We’ve been an integral part of the evolution of emergency care since its humble beginnings. Our founders, Dr. James M. Johnson and Dr. Robert M. Williams, were two of the original Emergency Physicians in the country.

There was a time when ambulances were run by funeral homes and general practitioners were called in for hospital emergencies. Working with progressive hospital leaders, Drs. Johnson and Williams saw the opportunity to improve patient care. Working together as emergency physicians in northern Michigan, they pioneered the specialty of emergency medicine. What began as a deep-rooted friendship grew into an enduring partnership.

In 1972, ECI Healthcare Partners was founded with a single, cherished principle: Quality healthcare is achieved by valuing people. Over the years, having efficiently managed the care of over 27 million patients in over 30 states, we have prospered into a network of professional services that reach well beyond emergency departments.

Though the torch of leadership has been passed on, we retain the same family-oriented values that guided us over 40 years ago.
